ABOUT ME
Professional Highlights & Areas of Expertise:

I teach and research in higher education. Currently, I teach social media marketing and business communication courses to graduate and undergraduate students.

For 20 months, I served as the director of graduate business studies in the UTA College of Business (COB), where I managed a staff of seven professionals who recruited, enrolled, advised, retained, and graduated all masters and doctoral candidates in our college. We also employed 6 GTAs and a work study student.

I teach BSAD 6392, which is a writing and professional development course for doctoral students. They create career goals and documents, digital portfolios, and other projects. I also teach an independent study for doctoral students in their dissertation stage that helps them complete their final polished draft for publication.

I served as the Business Communication Program Coordinator for the UTA College of Business (2017-2019). I managed the meetings, assessment, and curriculum for 5 faculty members teaching 40+ business communications classes offered annually. Curriculum innovations include the addition of mock interviews, virtual interviews, VMOCK résumé workshops, e-portfolios, and professionalism badges.

I taught 8-10 professionalism courses per year for the University of Texas at Arlington, where I recruited guest speakers to talk to our undergraduate students on topics ranging from dining etiquette to job search strategies, all intended to enhance students' job prospects upon graduation.

I have taught the Advanced Business Communication class for the CMBA class at the Downtown Fort Worth campus.

I taught UTA's inaugural writing class for the Certified Business Economist (CBE) distinction through the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) in Spring 2019.

I have served as faculty for Professional Learning Community UNIV-BU 1131 courses.

I worked as a Senior Writer and then Assistant Vice President for PlainsCapital Bank's Dallas investment firm, FirstSouthwest, from 2011-2015, where I produced marketing proposals, pitchbooks, white papers, and other written communications for 25 offices in 14 states.

At the Florida Department of Education in 2009, I led a team of professional educators to revise the grading rubric for the Florida English Teacher's Certification Exam.

At the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) from 2007-2008, I served as the program coordinator for the national Center on Instruction literacy program.

I have served on numerous higher education curriculum, graduation, and conference committees since 2001, when I began teaching at the college level.

I started my career in B2B sales as an Account Executive for a boutique insurance firm (now Wells Fargo).
